How many times do you find yourself in this position? You just don’t feel like it. You don’t want to deal with it. You feel you don’t have the energy to do it. It is relative to you in this case. It could be assignments, chores, meetings, work, cleaning, you name it. It could be life or studies.
We start the year with so much energy and gusto and have these things we are so excited to achieve. At some point the battery levels go down. At some point we are hit with the lows of life and struggles set in. It’s unrealistic being happy 100% of the time. Life has it’s challenges and we all have our low moments. For some it’s so easy to bounce back into the usual routine for some it’s not and we get lost in the misery.
It’s like when you are on diet then you have a cheat meal. Instead of going back to the routine you give and dive deeper into the path you are trying to walk away from. You say things like “I know I’ve gained all that weight back” “Why do I even try” ” I’ll never be able to loose this weight.” Or you start working on your assignment then you get distracted by your phone and because it’s so hard to put it down, another hour passes by and the next and now you have to postpone your work.
I am still struggling with this, but here are some of the tips that help me bounce back to my energy and rythm.
1. Find your why
Why exactly do you need to do this particular thing. For the lighter things like chores it’s quite obvious. You need to be done with them because they will be patiently waiting for you to still do them. For other bigger goals, remind yourself why you need to focus on them. Use vision boards, journals, your friends, wallpapers. Anything that will constantly remind you what your goals are and where exactly you want to be headed.
2 . Feed yourself positivity
Be around the right energy, consume the content. I have friends who give me really good advice and who really vibrate good energy. Energy and positivity is contagious. If you are around positive people it will rub off on you. You’ll take on life with a more optimistic approach instead of feeling defeated everytime. Motivational videos are all over social media and positive quotes. They will put you in a different mindspace and charge up the activation energy to get things going. You can also read helpful book.

3 . Declutter
This helps me so much to create a clear mindspace. When things are in order I feel like I want to do something productive. It could be as simple as making your bed, folding clothes, sorting laundry, arranging your study/work desk. That works wonders for me. I learnt that the is also a digital declutter, where you unsubscribe from getting emails you no longer need, unfollow irrelevant pages, clear your file space or maybe backup your data on all your devices. That’s basically it.
4 . Set up an environment
I don’t know why but I like water around me when I’m doing something productive. So if you like juice around or a snack do you, set it up. Take your workout clothes the day before and out them next to your best so it’s not a hustle when you wake up. Set up yout laptop and notepads, whatever makes you in a mood to actually get things done. For me a bottle of water, a notebook, my phone and a pen and I’m set. I use my phone to write my blogs that’s why. If you don’t need it, put it away to avoid distraction. It simple yet so hard.
5 . Start with smaller tasks
Build the momentum with starting with the smaller tasks. I’ll use cleaning my room as an example. I don’t clean everyday, I’m so lazy on some days. So I start with making my bed, once the bed is looking organized, I somehow want to get my dressing table organised, I do that and now I’m putting away dirty laundry and folding clothes and arranging shoes then I finish with the floor. If it’s an assignment, start with the introduction, you’ll find yourself having completed the task.
Motivation is a drive that needs fueling every so often. Your energy won’t be on a 100 every single day. Even in your least motivated days, doing things that are expected of you is self discipline and that’s a whole other topic. Anyways I hope that these five tips will be of help.
Lots of love
